Custom direct mail / how it works

From the first idea to the recipient’s hands.

Matterleaf turns messages into finished physical mail. We help with the paper, the finish, the package, the address, and the journey.

What we handle

The whole physical path between “send” and “received.”

Bring us the message, list, or occasion. We help turn it into a piece that is produced, finished, assembled, addressed, and ready to arrive as intended.

Built as one piece

Material and mailing choices are part of the message.

Premium paper, wax sealing, handwritten-style output produced by an automated writing machine, embossing, inserts, and packaging only work when they are planned together with the way the piece will travel.

FinishingWax sealing, handwritten-style output produced by an automated writing machine, embossing, inserts, and other details scoped to the piece.

AssemblySingle sheets, multiple-sheet packages, cards, and custom formats brought together consistently.

MailingAddress preparation, postage, and fulfillment handled with the finished mailpiece in mind.

For automations and integrations

Keep the trigger digital. Make the arrival physical.

Connect Matterleaf to the systems that already know who to reach and when. API handoffs, recipient lists, recurring campaigns, and workflow triggers can feed the same production and fulfillment path.

  • API handoffsPass recipient and campaign details from your own systems.
  • Automation workflowsCoordinate sends around CRM events, launches, milestones, or scheduled moments.
  • Repeatable operationsKeep the physical production consistent as the audience and cadence change.
Talk through an integration

What happens between approval and mailing?

We prepare the paper and artwork, apply the requested finishing, assemble the correspondence or package, review the recipient details, and complete the mailpiece for its destination.

For custom work, that may mean embossing, multiple sheets, inserts, a branded envelope, a wax seal, or a format that does not fit the standard campaign flow. We scope those details with you before production begins.

What about USPS?

USPS handling depends on the final thickness, rigidity, shape, and postage of the finished piece. Wax seals and assembled packages need to be planned as mailpieces, not added as an afterthought.

We keep those considerations in view so the finished correspondence can make the journey intact.
